Facing and solving problems is part of everyday life, in and out of the workplace. The ability to solve problems and make decisions separates the effective supervisor from the rest of the field. In this one-day workshop, participants learn to use a six-step problem solving methodology to solve problems and make decisions. Participants also learn how to anticipate, define, and analyze problems and their causes. Specific techniques for analyzing problems and generating possible solutions are discussed. Using a self-assessment instrument, participants will identify their preferred decision-making style. Throughout the workshop, participants will practice applying techniques to real-life situations, and share their findings with the class. Participants will leave the workshop with practical skills that can be immediately applied to solve problems and make decisions back on the job under both normal and emergency situations.
