This course will explore assessment tools found on the internet and low-cost paper/pencil tools that will assist you and your customers in the career planning process. In addition, use of these tools will ensure compliance with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) mandate to "make every effort to assess the skills, abilities, and career goals of job seekers to help them map their skills against current and anticipated jobs". Through interactive computer lab instruction, learn about free, valid, and reliable online career assessment resources that are time-effective and easily self-administered. Expand your knowledge of O*Net instruments and how to use them to your best advantage. Review the COPS System and learn the value of identifying abilities, interests, and work-related values as they apply to occupational categories. Rediscover the W.R.A.T. - a brief screening measure of achievement in reading recognition, spelling, and arithmetic.
